Not to be missed

Tintin Trail - Brussels

On 22 May 1907, Georges Remi aka HERGE is born in Etterbeek, a Brussels town. He will become the genius creator of Tintin and Milou, but also the father of the European comic strip, the inventor of the ‘ligne claire’ (clear line).

In 2007 we celebrated the centennial of the birth of this famous Belgian comic strip author. On this occasion several events were organised in Brussels but also across the world. The aim was to let the “art of Hergé” become part of the history of art.

Let’s not forget that after “giving birth” to the most famous reports and his loyal friend Snowy in 1929, Hergé (1907-1983), created the Brussels rascals Quick and Flupke.

Remember also that his oeuvre was translated in some sixty languages and published in more than two hundred million copies.

Along the years a true myth has developed around his paper heroes. From China to Canada, people from 7 to 77 years still fancy the adventures of the little reporter.

Although Hergé and Tintin are known all over the world, you shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that Brussels and Belgium were important places in the life and work of this master of the Ninth Art

So, guided by the infallible flair of Snowy and the efficient collaboration of the most famous detectives in the history of comic strips, the famous Dupont and Dupond, you can discover the Brussels of “King Ottokar’s Sceptre” or that of “The Seven Crystal Balls”, the birth house of Hergé, the Vieux Marché or the "Secret of the Unicorn"…

Certainly don’t forget to visit the splendid Galerie du Roi, where Hergé met another giant figure of comic strips for the first time: Edgar-P. Jacobs, creator of Blake and Mortimer. Let’s go then to the Belgian Comic Strip Centre - BCSC (BRUXELLES) which presents the work of Hergé.

Between dream and reality, we step in the footsteps of this comic strip drawer and let the magic of Tintin and Snowy work once more!
